Version History
--> Version 1.00 (1st May 1995) BBC Acorn RISC version.
First version. No known bugs, except erratic memory problems (appearing VERY
rarely) due to a bug in the CLib. (That‘s rarely in real terms, not Pentium
terms... ;-) )
--> Version 1.01 (3rd August 1995) BBC Acorn RISC version.
Small bug fixed, which previously allowed the last item on lists to be missed
out in some circumstances.
--> Version; 2.00.0001 ( 5/06/2005 - 6:00am bst) Microsoft Windows 95 and later versions.
This is the first Microsoft Windows version.
All code by Mark A. Agius.
Based on the above Acorn BBC BASIC / RISC OS version by Matt Browne and Mark Agius.
This is completely new code, except the application icon (!Sprites22) has been copied,
the Directory text file has been copied and renamed Directory.csv and the ReadMe and
History text files have been copied into this Help.txt file.
--> Version; 2.00.0002 ( 6/06/2005 - 6:00am bst)
In version 2.00.0001 as with the BBC Basic versions a match would be any cell that contained the
searching for string.
This version now uses wildcards.
*
= Zero or more characters.
#
= One character only.
##
= Two characters only.
*##
= Two or more characters.
Eg.
Search for;
Cell data;
Old version;
New version;
AYWAR
Haywards Heath
Yes (This is part of the cell)
No (This is not the whole string)
*AYWAR*
Haywards Heath
No (Can't find * in string)
Yes (AYWAR is part of the string)
H*WAR* H*
Haywards Heath
No (Can't find * in string)
Yes
HEA##
Heath
No (Can't find ## after HEA)
Yes (There are 2 characters after HEA)
HEA#
Heath
No (Can't find # after HEA)
No (There are 2 characters after HEA)
When saving the data, if the cell split character (usually a tab or comma) is found in the cell
then it is replaced by a space or a character that looks like a comma.
During a search a new menu item is added. 'Abort this search'.
'Abort this search' will stop a search before all records have been checked and add a line to remind the user
that the search has been aborted.
'Options - Open applications directory' added.
'Options - Restore Directory.csv file' added.
If the Directory.csv has been deleted or edited and you wish to restore the original file then;
Hold down the SHIFT key and click menu. Then click on the menu 'Options', 'Restore/fix the Directory.csv file'
You can edit this file with NotePad or any text editor application.
The format is;
# Any line that starts with a hash (#) is ignored (Used for entering comments only). Eg.
# UK Dialling code directory
Any blank line is ignored. Eg.
The place name and then the number.
The name and number will be split by this application. This is done by removing any numbers or spaces
from the end of the text to leave just the name. Eg.
Abbey St.Bathans 01361 4 = "Abbey St.Bathans" and " 01361 4" = "Abbey St.Bathans" and "01361 4"
A list of useful web sites has been added to the menu.
